I've Been Thinking:
“We have not done enough for the Jewish communities outside of Israel.”
This is the most important quote to come from an interview Benny Ganz gave to the Israeli daily newspaper Makor Rishon.
Ganz is Israel’s new Defense Minister and alternate Prime Minister. He is scheduled to assume the prime ministry in 18 months.
He is correct.
The relationship between Israel and the Diaspora is worse today than it has ever been.
Jews around the world should be connected to Israel The real challenge is in determining how Israel can present itself in a more approachable manner to those Jews, enticing them to connect to the Jewish State.
If Ganz can do more than simply speak about the disconnect and actually conceptualize, implement and fund realistic ways to connect the communities, he will be on the way to building a significant bridge for Jewish communities outside of Israel.
