By Micah Halpern
I've Been Thinking:
Iran is a split nation.
We cannot know what the true percentages are, but we know that there are two different and dramatically divergent groups in Iran.
One is traditional. This group embraces Iranian leadership and their conservative views. For the most part, they are an older group.
The other group wants modernization and openness. More than anything, this group wants cultural openness. They come out to protest almost every day, asking for more freedoms. They are young men and women. They are optimistic and they dream of a great future. They use computer software to end around the oppressive restrictions of their conservative leadership. They are hopeful. And they are pro-West.
They are at war with each other. At stake is the their hope for the future of Iran.
